The ‘ICF-e-learning tool hand’ provides a general introduction to the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) and its Core Sets. In addition, the platform shows examples of the practical applications of ICF-based tools in clinical Routine.

ICF in brief

Within the ‘ICF-e-learning tool hand’ there are five modules:

  • Module 1 – Introduction to ICF-classification

    Here we present the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF). You will get to know more about the background, aims and the key approach of the ICF, the biopsychosocial understanding of health and disability.

  • Module 2 – Introduction to the ICF Core Sets

    You will be presented more on the ICF Core Sets in general and you will learn more about the ICF Core Sets for Hand Conditions. We introduce you to the project to develop the ICF Core Sets for Hand Conditions, covering the studies, the international consensus conference and the validation Phase.

  • Module 3 - ICF-based assessment

    Here you will be shown how the Brief ICF Core Set for Hand Conditions can be used to measure functional ability. We present a range of clinical measurement methods, tests and survey instruments suitable for bringing the Brief ICF Core Set for Hand Conditions into daily clinical Routine.

  • Module 4 – Treatment standards

    Discover how the Brief ICF Core Set for Hand Conditions is integrated into the daily clinical routine of the hand surgery departments of BG hospitals to guide their therapies. We present our ICF-based treatment standards for selected injuries and diseases of the Hand.

  • Module 5 – Hand case-study

    Tangible case-study examples show the implementation of the developed treatment standards and the application of ICF-based assessments in clinical routine.
